MRNJ provides an innovative program for learning English as a second language. Our classes are designed to help students develop important life skills to help them connect with their community and to advocate for themselves. Our ESOL program has two levels: Basic and Intermediate.
The Basic level is for true beginners, with little to no prior knowledge of English, and for those who wish to start from zero. Class topics include everyday activities such as making a doctor’s appointment, ordering food at a restaurant, or shopping online, including a social justice component. Students learn a variety of new vocabulary.
The Intermediate level is for students with some English knowledge, including some understanding of basic verb tenses (present, past and future), and for those who are able to engage in simple conversations. Students will improve their conversational skills and pronunciation. The classes are held in English in its entirety.
Classes are FREE and space is limited. While classes are open to all, we encourage students to become members. Membership is $10 a month and provides the opportunity to make change in your community! If you would like to become a member please click the appropriate link below:
