MRNJ provides an innovative virtual program for learning English as a second language. Our classes are designed to help students develop important life skills to help them connect with their community and to advocate for themselves. This is a 12 week program, taught virtually via zoom. Our ESOL program has two levels: Basic and Intermediate.
The Basic level is for true beginners, with little to no prior knowledge of English, and for those who wish to start from zero. Class topics include everyday activities such as making a doctor’s appointment, ordering food at a restaurant, or shopping online, including a social justice component. Students learn a variety of new vocabulary.
Basic level classes are held every Tuesday from 8 – 9:30pm via zoom.
The Intermediate level is for students with some English knowledge, including some understanding of basic verb tenses (present, past and future), and for those who are able to engage in simple conversations. Students will improve their conversational skills and pronunciation. The classes are held in English in its entirety.
Intermediate level classes are also held every Tuesday from 8 – 9:30pm via zoom.
