Make the Road New Jersey builds the power of immigrant and working class communities of color through transformative education. Annually, our educational programs reach thousands of young people and adults to equip them with vital skills, including college access, adult literacy/ESOL, citizenship test preparation, and driving class preparation.
Our basic and intermediate ESOL (English as a second language) classes help adult students not just improve their English but also their confidence and other skills necessary to engage civically. Our citizenship classes prepare students for the citizenship test, the steps of the citizenship application, and emphasizes the importance of civic engagement. Our driving school classes in Spanish help students prepare for the written driving exam – anyone of age in New Jersey can get a driver’s license regardless of immigration status! Every year we reach thousands of working class immigrant youth and youth of color with innovative peer-led college access support and educational programming.
Classes are FREE and space is limited! While classes are open to all, we encourage students to become members of the organization. Membership is $10 a month, and provides the opportunity to build community and make change in your community!
